Reflection

Teamwork during Pre-Production:
My group didn’t have many issues during the pre-production, as we all liked the song that we chose and were all extremely excited to make a music video to it. We used to pre-production effectively and we finished our planning really quickly so this gave us more time to shoot. The first media lesson of term 4 we already knew which song we wanted to do as we discussed it over the holidays and we did the planning e.g. shot list in our time so that we could start as soon as possible. We used our time effectively and this was great as we didn’t need to use any time outside of class to film so we could use this time to edit, we finished all our shots in the class time provided and everyone knew what they needed to do. We all had different characters to play so everyone was responsible for knowing what they needed to say and film. Compared to the previous film noir task I used my time a lot more efficiently and also by having the planning finished by the 2nd lesson and going straight into filming gave us a lot more time so that we didn’t feel rushed.

Teamwork during Production and Post-Production:
We decided who was going to be what character and made sure that the same person being another character wasn’t in the shot before or after so that there was a variety. Everyone in my group had their own shot list to follow so we were all responsible for our own shots which made things run a lot smoother because everyone knew what they had to do and not worry about if someone had forgotten something or was away. We were all very organised throughout this whole task, we were all present majority of lessons, Tilly was away for a couple but always made sure that her shots were completed before the date that we set so we could complete our editing. The only issue that our group experienced was that one day we accidently used a G11 camera when we needed a G12 or larger because we were shooting on 1280 x 720, this wasn’t a large set back but a couple of our shots were a bit rushed because we needed to reshoot in the same lesson. We shot all our shots that were included in the shot list.

Discuss your individual feelings about the Music Video Task:

I’m happy with how the final music video turned out but I feel the green screen doesn’t make the film look as good as it could have. I wouldn’t change how the music video looks because it does look how we pictured it from the beginning so we are all happy with the outcome. If we could do the project again I would record more of the characters singing instead of so many “bloopers” which was the look we were going for but maybe with a couple more singing scenes it could have made it a bit more interesting. It was most definitely easier to plan, film and edit this project than the previous task as I just found working with the group I had this time was so much easier to organise things with and also the reason why we didn’t feel rushed was because we stayed organised the entire time of this project. The treatment basically describes the final outcome, which shows that my group had the same film playing their head the entire time. My blog was updated 3 times a week so I think it adequately shows what my group has been doing for the past 5 weeks. I enjoyed this task a lot more than the previous one and hopefully we can make another music video in the near future.
